In 1993, John Scott provided this Whiston lad with the opportunity of a lifetime. I was a part of the Dallas Cup team that represented Knowsley that year - I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time under John's supervision. As I embarked on a journey that took me away from Liverpool ( I now live in Kentucky, USA), John made a point of keeping in touch with my family. This personal touch was never needed to convince my family and I of his love for Knowsley kids, but this was John. My folks and I were saddened by his passing - it is a great loss for Knowsley. I only hope that his legacy will live on. The John Scott Memorial competition is a fitting tribute to a man who provided so much for the young men of Knowsley.
